David Bigelow was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and raised in Mt. Morris, Michigan, the oldest of four children. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Masters of Fine Arts in printmaking and drawing from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. David's works are etchings and drawings. His wife, Marcia, applies the watercolor when necessary. He looks for the profound in the mundane and the obscure in the obvious. Humor is an important means to the end of communicating truth. David really cares if people understand his ideas, so he listens to their reactions and opinions whenever possible. He has been drawing since he was four years old and still enjoys it.
To quote Jenny Brough, Michigan Artists Guild, "Bigelow's work is a pure delight to see - with simple designs often depicting animal or vegetable characters. He conveys such depth and fun in his art, easily evoking laughter. David's art comes from the heart of a very sincere, kind, and friendly person."
David and Marcia are currently living and working in Springfield, Missouri. He is teaching art at Evangel University and has several out of town / state galleries carrying his work. He continues to meet and listen to the public throughout the United States at art fairs.
